LAKE DENTIST RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS MASTERSHIP FROM ACADEMY
OF GENERAL DENTISTRY
Chicago (July 2007)- The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)
is pleased to announce that Rudy Wassenaar, DMD, of Williams
lake, BC received the prestigious Mastership Award during
the AGDs Annual Meeting & Exhibits on June 30 in
San Diego. Dr. Wassenaar accepted this award along with 175
other recipients.
The Mastership Award is the highest honor available in the
AGD and one of the most respected designations in the profession.
This accomplishment meets the highest criteria for professional
excellence. To accomplish this, Dr. Wassenaar completed in
excess of 1,100 hours of continuing dental education in 16
different disciplines of dentistry, including more than 400
hours dedicated to hands-on skills and techniques. During
its 55 year existence, the AGD has given this award to over
2,200 members of the dental community who understand that
great smiles and good oral health for their patients are the
result of hard work and dedication to good patient care.
This is an outstanding accomplishment for Dr. Wassenaar,
says AGD President Vincent Mayher,DMD,MAGD. By completing
the rigorous requirements to become a Master, Dr. Wassenaar
goes above and beyond basis licensure requirements in his
province to keep his practice on the cutting edge. This award
truly distinguishes Dr. Wassenaar from others in the dental
community
Dr. Wassenaar graduated from the University of Amsterdam,
Holland, in 1981 and currently practices in Williams lake
BC. In addition to the AGD , Dr. Wassenaar is a member of
the Canadian Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic
Dentistry and the Alumni Organization of the LD.Pankey Institute
for Advanced Dental Education.
Dr. Wassenaar holds Fellowships with the International Congress
of Oral Implantologists and the International Academy of Dental
Facial Esthetics.
The AGD is a professional organization of more than 35,000
general dentists dedicated to staying up-to-date in the profession
through quality continuing education Founded in 1952, the
AGD has grown to become the worlds second largest dental
organization, which is the only association that exclusively
represents the needs and interests of general dentists.
More than 72,000 persons in Canada are directly employed
in the field of general dentistry. A general dentist is the
primary care provider for patients of all ages and is responsible
for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination

Wassenaar receives Mastership Award from the ICOI
Chicago ( August 2008)- The International Congress of Oral
Implantologists (ICOI) was founded in 1972. Devoted to providing
implant education to general dentists, dental specialists,
researchers and industry representatives, the ICOI is not
only the worlds largest dental implant organization,
but it is also the worlds largest provider of continuing
dental implant education.
The ICOI's mission is to substantially advance the science
and quality of practice of implant dentistry. Furthermore,
the ICOI promotes high standards of personal and professional
ethics for its members, and as such recognizes the achievements
of these members. The ICOI is an Affiliate of the FDI World
Dental Federation.
Dr. Wassenaar recently completed the requirements to receive
his Mastership Award, which involved providing a detailed
listing of 40 completed implant cases, all of which must be
at least 12 months old. Dr. Wassenaar also had to provide
the following: documentation of completion of at least one
hundred continuing implant education hours in the preceding
five years; a letter of recommendation from a current ICOI
Master, ICOI Diplomate or member of ICOIs Advanced Credentials
Committee; and evidence of having presented at least two times
at ICOI meetings within the last five years.
Dr.Wassenaar is one of only eleven dentists Canada-wide who
has received this level of recognition from his peers. Dr.
Wassenaar stated, It is very important to stay abreast
of the many advances in dental implantology. With the confidence
I have gained through ICOIs exceptional education, I
comfortably treat simple to complex cases routinely.
