Orthodontic Evaluation

Before any orthodontic procedure occurs, our dental experts will meet with you for an evaluation appointment. Dr. Wassenaar will first visually determine if you are a good candidate for orthodontic treatment, or if another treatment would be more appropriate. If orthodontics are required, we will take impressions of your teeth, special x-rays of your jaw joint, head and teeth, and specific measurements of your teeth and mouth.

When should My Child be Evaluated?

Typically, children should be evaluated by the age of 6 for orthodontic treatment. However, if your child has developed an “open bite”, contact the team at Williams Lake Smiles right away.

Through new innovations and techniques in orthodontics, many problems can be corrected early in childhood. This can shorten the time period for braces or even entirely eliminate the need for braces in the future.
