Smile Your Best Smile Ever With Dental Veneers

veneers1-300x200 One of the first things people notice about you is your smile…or lack of it.
If you are embarrassed by your smile and have wondered about a smile makeover, Williams Lake Smiles has the perfect solution, dental veneers.

Veneers can fix:

Teeth that are worn, chipped or broken
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped
Teeth with gaps between them
Teeth that are discolored

Dental veneers are commonly made from porcelain but may be made from a resin composite material.

  • Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth.
  • Resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less of the tooth surface before placement.

Dental veneers require several dental visits: One for a consultation, two to make and apply the veneers, and one to check placement.

Your active participation is important. At your consultation, be clear about the results you want to achieve. Dr. Wassenaar will examine your teeth to make sure veneers are appropriate for you. He may take x-rays and will make impressions of your teeth and mouth.

To prepare your tooth for a veneer, Dr. Wassenaar will remove about 1/2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, an amount nearly equal to the thickness of the veneer. Then an impression of your tooth and mouth will be sent to the dental lab that will make your veneer.

Before the veneer is permanently cemented to your tooth, Dr. Wassenaar will temporarily place it on your tooth to examine its color and fit. Your tooth will be cleaned, polished, and etched to receive the veneer. After the veneer is cemented in place, Dr. Wassenaar will evaluate your bite and make any final adjustments. You will return for a follow-up visit in about two weeks.

Veneers provide a natural tooth appearance. They are stain resistant, well-tolerated by gum tissue and don’t require extensive tooth shaping as crowns do. They also offer a stronger and a more aesthetic alternative to crowns.
