The Perfect Restoration for Your Needs

Implant-supported Dental Bridge Here at Williams Lake Smiles, we often see patients who are suffering from one or more missing teeth. These patients come to us looking for the best tooth restoration treatment possible that can have them smiling beautifully once more. That said, many of these patients write implants off right away, assuming that the treatment can’t fit their needs. What these people don’t realize is that there are many different treatments available utilizing dental implants. And, with Williams Lake, BC’s Dr. Rudy Wassenaar at their disposal, it is completely possible that dental implants can provide a treatment that fits their needs. We invite you to read on to learn about the various implant treatments our office provides.

Treatments for Any Number of Missing Teeth

Whether you are suffering from a single missing tooth or a full arch of missing teeth, you can rest assured that we have an implant related treatment that will fit your needs. Some of the treatments we provide using dental implants include:

Single Tooth Restorations

When we receive a patient who is suffering from a single missing tooth, then we will perform an aptly named single tooth restoration for them. This procedure uses a single implant fixture, which is placed in the empty spot left behind by your missing tooth. With the implant fixture in place, it will require three to six months of recovery time, during which the process of osseointegration will work to fuse your fixture to your jawbone. Once this process is complete, an abutment will be attached to your fixture, followed by the restoration completing the treatment.

Multiple Teeth Restorations

When we receive a patient with multiple missing teeth, we tend to restore each tooth with its own fixture and restoration. However, when a patient has multiple missing teeth that all border each other, then we prefer to treat those teeth with an implant-supported dental bridge. For this procedure, at least two implant fixtures are placed to support the end pieces of the bridge. Once in place, an abutment is attached to each fixture and the dental bridge connected.

Full Arch Restorations

When we receive a patient who is missing a full arch of missing teeth, then it typically is no longer feasible to restore each tooth with its own implant and restoration. Instead, we will replace the patient’s teeth with an implant-supported overdenture. For this procedure, four to six implant fixtures are placed along the arch. Once they have successfully healed and osseointegrated, an abutment will be attached to each implant fixture and the overdenture connected at all points.

Covid-19 (Corona) Virus

Dear valued patients of Williams Lake Smiles,

We hope this finds all our patients and friends healthy and well as summer is supposed to be arriving! Fingers crossed that we will see some sunshine in the Cariboo soon!

Our clinic staff have been working hard through this "new normal" of COVID-19 and ensuring that our clinic is exceeding the regulations to create the most safe and comfortable environment for all our patients. In the field of dentistry, we have always been experts in infection control. Now we are establishing a modified workflow to go above and beyond in this endeavor.

We are starting to resume some scheduling of more routine procedures as well as emergency care at this time. Please feel free to contact our office if you have any questions about our current protocols or would like to schedule care.

Please respect our measures we are taking to ensure physical distancing within our office. This includes completing the COVID-19 prescreening form that is emailed to you before each appointment. We are also continuing to limit our waiting room to one person at a time and having patients complete payments and scheduling in their treatment room before exiting through the side door. This allows us to prevent interaction between patients whenever possible.

You may also find that we are slightly less flexible in our available appointment times for now as we are managing these new measures. We need to consider the amount of patients within our clinic at any time as well as stagger our patient entry and exit times.

Please be patient and kind as we all adjust to this protocol that is in place for the safety of all of us.

Take a few minutes to watch and share our latest instalment of Dr Wassenaar's appearance on the television program "The Wellness Hour". This interview outlines a lot of what we are doing to make sure that our patients have the utmost confidence and comfort in visiting Williams Lake Smiles at all times.
